Missed Appointment / Late Cancellation Policy

When an appointment is scheduled, that clinical time is reserved specifically for that patient. A missed appointment or late cancellation (less than 24 hours in advance) may prevent Martha's Vineyard Medical from offering that appointment to another patient and results in the loss of valuable provider time.

Accordingly, patients who fail to attend a scheduled appointment, or who cancel without sufficient notice for the appointment to be offered to another patient, may be charged a $250 missed appointment fee, representing the value of the clinical appointment time that was reserved and could not be used for another patient.

The fee will not be charged where prohibited by law or the patient's health plan, including to MassHealth members. MVM may waive the fee in appropriate circumstances at its discretion.
