Homemade Granola

Take a stroll down the cereal aisle and you may notice that granola is having a moment. We seem to discover a new brand every week. But when you suffer from alpha-gal syndrome, processed foods - even healthy granola - can hide triggers. For example, the sugar might not be organic, which can mean that it’s processed with bone char. Better to be safe. As much fun as it is to check out all the new brands, you can easily make granola at home. And this one doesn’t have any sugar or butter. We use maple syrup and olive oil.

Ingredients

3 Cups rolled oats

1 Cup almonds

1 Cup cashews

1 Cup pecans

1 Cup pumpkin seeds

½ Cup olive oil

½ Cup maple syrup

Salt to taste

Directions

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees

In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients and mix well.

Spread mixture onto a half-sheet pan and gently pat it flat with a spatula

Bake for 45 minutes.

Cool and enjoy!
